5 bad 2019 hairstyles for men to avoid

Some hairstyles that maybe would turn some heads in the past are still doing that now, but not for the right reasons. This blogpost will highlight 5 bad 2019 hairstyles you should not pick anymore from now on.

Bad 2019 hairstyle 1: The ‘Side Swept’

This hairstyle was maybe rocked by Justin Bieber at some point and many woman really liked him for it, but that does not mean you can pull off the same in 2019. The side swept made it in my list of bad 2019 hairstyles because nobody wants to look a decade younger than they are, so do not pick a hairstyle that makes it look like you are still in high-school when you a clearly not. Luckily we see that most men matured away from this look and hopefully it stays that way!

Bad 2019 hairstyle 2: The ‘Mullet’

We know the mullet as a popular choice in the 1980's and 1990's. Think of Brad Pitt and some other iconic actors. The mullet certainly left an impression, but nowadays it will not be a good impression anymore. Why is it a bad 2019 hairstyle to pick? Well, I am not sure if it was ever a good hairstyle to pick, but just like we moved away from the baggy 1990's clothing, it is also time to move away from the mullet look. It became popular because of the Beasty Boys and their hit Mullet Head, but it is time to move on gentleman!

Bad 2019 hairstyle 3: Spiky hair

If you are a Millennial, you will very likely remember the big jars of yellow or some other fluorescent color of gluey stuff. In the 1990's and early 2000's a lot of guys styled their hair with this cheap kind of hair gel that you can find at any drugstore. This product usually resulted in a spiky wetlook that got crunchy and flaky. Spiky hair was it in the 1990's and 2000's and yes, as a 90's kid I also walked around with this spiky look.

We are now almost two decades further, so spiky hair should stay just some vague memory of the past. In 2019 you cannot walk around with spiky hair anymore. In the last 15 years the hair products for men progressed a lot, so a hair gel should not really be your go-to product anymore. Bad 2019 hairstyle 4: The "Bowl Cut"

Everybody knows this bowl cut hairstyle. Maybe you even saw it recently on your 4 year old cousin or nephew because it is so easy to obtain. You can literally put a plant bowl on their head and cut around the side and safe yourself some money. But you should not do that even to a 4-year old. I think I dodged it when I was little myself, but I know plenty of children that walked around like this in the 1990's. Thank your mom for that one! It was also a very stereotypical hairstyle for nerds in many high-school movies. Just use that plant bowl what it is made for and get yourself (or your kid) a real hairstyle because this is truly one of the worst 2019 hairstyles for men to walk around with.

Bad 2019 hairstyle 5: "Bleached hair"

The last bad 2019 hairstyle I would like to talk about lost its coolness a bit more recently. In 2018 we saw the come-back of bleached and blond dyed hair. Suddenly many men had platinum blond hair. You maybe think you look like you had a nice holiday with some nice "coup de soleil" as a result, but the truth is different. Justin Timberlake once got away with have blond hair, but in 2019 it is not really a great choice anymore.

Nowadays silver hair is actually the trend of hairstyles for men. Just get some silver highlights or try to be subtle about it. To make sure it will not turn yellow, you should best use a good shampoo and conditioner that can make your silver or grey-ish hair last longer. Think of the Anti-Fade Shampoo of Hanz de Fuko or the V76 by Vaughn Brightening Shampoo.
