Body Scrub

What is body scrub?

A body scrub is a special scrub for your body. A face scrub you probably know and has similar properties, but these products are not the same.

The skin on your face is thinner and more delicate. The skin on the rest of your body is thicker. A body scrub is developed to handle the thicker skin. That is why I would not recommend using a body scrub for your face, because that can lead to redness and dry spots.

A body scrub is also called a body exfoliator because it exfoliates your skin. Exfoliating is just another word for scrubbing. A body scrub contains small particles of a harder material to scrub your skin. This can be ground coffee beans, walnut shells, or something similar.

Benefits of a body scrub for men

Using a body scrub has many advantages for your skin. Especially when you frequently have oily skin or acne on your back, for example. A body scrub provides a deeper cleansing compared to a body wash. It removes dead skin cells that can clog your pores and cause impurities.

Clogged pores are one of the main causes for pimples and acne on your shoulders or back. A body scrub exfoliates your skin removing dirt, excessive sebum, and bacteria as a result. It helps to reduce the chance of an inflamed skin and prevents acne.

Body scrub also stimulates cell renewal, so that your skin will become softer and smoother. The complexion of your skin will also improve. Another benefit is that it helps to prevent ingrown hairs and reduce dark spots on your skin.

When should you use a body scrub?

Considering a scrub provides a pretty deep cleansing, you do not have to use it on a daily basis or every time you are taking a shower. Once or twice per week is plenty. A body scrub primarily works for men with oily or acne prone skin.

A body scrub is usually the second step in your body skincare routine. You apply it after you cleansed your skin with a body wash and before you apply a body lotion.

When you want to shave your chest hair or other parts of your body, it is recommended to scrub your skin first and then start shaving. Scrubbing helps to lift the hairs and then they are easier to remove and less likely to grow back in your skin.

How to use body scrub?

You apply a body scrub or body exfoliator on cleansed but wet skin. Massage it in circular motions to remove dead skin cells and unclog your pores. For the best result you can use a scrub brush to deeply clean your skin.

Rinse your skin immediately after scrubbing. There is no use to keep the body scrub on your skin any longer because that can dry out your skin. It is sometimes tempting to do this when you have oily or acne prone skin but drying out your skin will not improve your skin.

When you want to shave your chest hair or other body parts, then you can do it after you rinsed your skin off after exfoliating your skin. When you are not shaving anything, then you should apply a good body lotion or body moisturizer to rehydrate and nourish your skin again with important nutrients. It helps to restore the moisture balance of your skin.
