When should you use a beard shampoo?

A beard shampoo is recommended once your beard reaches a certain length. If you only have some stubble, you can still use beard shampoo, but the biggest benefits are seen with a slightly longer beard.

Naturally, you do not want white flakes in your beard or on your clothes, so properly cleansing your beard is essential. These white flakes are also known as beard dandruff and are caused by dead skin cells that get trapped in your beard. A beard wash helps to remove these dead skin cells so you do not get flakes in your beard.

How often to use a beard shampoo

You can use a beard shampoo just as often as a regular shampoo. For example, every other day is a good routine to keep your beard clean and well-maintained. Each time you wash your hair, you can also wash your beard with a beard shampoo. And just like with your hair, it is advisable to follow up with a conditioner – in this case, a beard conditioner.

Of course, it is easier to wash your beard with a beard shampoo at the sink than it is to wash your hair, so if you notice your beard needs it, you can wash it even if you are not taking a morning shower.
