Water Based Pomade
What is water based pomade?
A water based pomade has, unsurprisingly, water as its main ingredient. So in most cases, the ingredient list will begin with water (or aqua). Water-based pomades are designed to style your hair once and then keep your hairstyle in place throughout the day because they dry in your hair.

Water based pomade
Water-based pomades work best for men with normal to thick hair. However, they can be used for all hair types, including straight, wavy, and curly hair. They can help to make wavy or curly hair appear a bit more straight.
Properties of water-based pomade
The main characteristic of a water-based pomade is that it dries in your hair. Your hair becomes hard, similar to when using hair gel. How much it dries depends a bit on the pomade. This means your hair stays in place all day, but it also means you cannot restyle it unless you dampen your hair again.
Most of the water based pomades in the Moquer shop provide a medium to strong hold with a medium to high shine. This makes them perfect for those classic men's hairstyles. You might have seen an episode of Boardwalk Empire or Peaky Blinders. These sleek and groomed hairstyles are easily achieved with a water-based pomade. They also work very well for wet looks.
One final feature worth mentioning is how easily it washes out. When a pomade is water-based, it rinses out easily with just warm water. In most cases, you will not even need shampoo. That is not the case with an oil-based pomade.
Which men’s hairstyles work best with a water-based pomade?
A water-based pomade is very suitable for slick looks. Textured or messy hairstyles do not work well with a water-based pomade. Examples of hairstyles include slick-backs, pompadours, and side-parts. All smooth and shiny hairstyles from the 1920s to the 1960s work well with these products. Due to the shine, men with thinner hair are better off avoiding water-based pomades. It becomes relatively easy to see through your hair and onto your scalp.
Best water based pomade for men
This category is perhaps one of the broadest when it comes to men’s hair styling products, so it can be quite tricky to make a good choice. It can help to know what other men are choosing. The three most popular water-based pomade brands are Layrite, Suavecito, and Uppercut Deluxe.
The Dutch brand Reuzel Pomade is also very popular thanks to their range of water-based pomades. One final brand I’d like to mention is Imperial Barber with their Imperial Classic Pomade. Of course, this is just a small selection of options in the Moquer shop, but it can definitely help you get started.
